TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Metro Jaya Police announced that it has closed off a number of streets in Jakarta for the string of protests held in three locations in Jakarta today and calls for people to take alternative routes as the protests are being held.

“I remind people to avoid areas in the vicinity of the State Palace, Thamrin, the House of Representatives (DPR) headquarters, and the Proclamation Monument in Central Jakarta starting from this noon,” said Sambodo in central Jakarta on Wednesday, October 28.

He said the rallies mainly protesting against the omnibus law on job creation will be participated by groups of workers unions, students, and the general public that is expected to see up to 3,000 people crowding the aforementioned locations.

Police have also rerouted traffic in the vicinity of these locations and will be reopened as the rally ends. There will be roughly 10,000 police personnel and members of the National Armed Forces (TNI) guarding the protests.
