Police to Probe 8 Witnesses to Alleged KPK Extortion Case

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Director of Special Crime Investigation at Metro Jaya Police Chief Commissioner Ade Safri Simanjuntak stated that the police will probe eight witnesses to the alleged extortion case from Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) head against the former Ministry of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo.
"The probing is scheduled for today on Thursday, October 19, 2023, for eight witnesses in accordance to the summon letter sent by the investigators," Ade said in a written statement.
Ade mentioned that the eight witnesses consisted of six KPK employees, one from the Data and Information Center of the Health Ministry, and the other one of unknown origin.
He also did not provide details on each of the witnesses' names. "The probing will commence at 10:00 a.m. local time," he said.
Yesterday, October 18, Metro Jaya Police scheduled an examination against 19 witnesses. However, three of them were absent, including the aide of an Echelon 1 official from the Ministry of Agriculture.
Meanwhile, out of the 16 witnesses probed by the police was the former vice head of KPK Mochammad Jasin.
Ade Safri informed that since October 9, there have been 45 witnesses probed by the police for ties to the alleged extortion case involving KPK Head Firli Bahuri against Syahrul Yasin Limpo.
