Constitutional Court Decides Presidential Age Limit Today; Police Deploy 1,992 Personnel

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Metro Jaya Police deploy 1,992 personnel to safeguard the Constitutional Court hearing today to decide on the presidential and vice presidential candidates' age limits. The Head of the Public Relations Department of the Metro Jaya Police Chief Commissioner Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko stated that the personnel are joint apparatus from the Metro Jaya Police, Central Jakarta Police Resort, the National Armed Forces, and the provincial government of Jakarta.
The joint apparatus is tasked to ensure the decision hearing in the Constitutional Court is safe. Trunoyudo asked the public present to witness the hearing to maintain order.
"Metro Jaya Police will safeguard the Constitutional Court building and urge all elements [of the public] to maintain order and security before, during, and after the decision is issued," he said on Monday, as quoted by Antara.
This morning, the Constitutional Court will read its verdict on the judicial review of Article 169 (q) of the General Elections Law No.7 of 2017 regarding age limits on presidential and vice presidential candidates.
According to the official website of the court, the decision hearing will be held today at 10:00 a.m. WIB (Western Indonesian Time) at the Constitutional Court Building, Jakarta.
There are several matters that will be decided today, namely Case No. 29/PUU-XXI/2023 submitted by PSI which asked the court to limit the candidates' ages to 35 years old.
Case No. 51/PUU-XXI/2023 was submitted by the Head of Garuda Party Ahmad Ridha Sabana and the Secretary General of Garuda Party Yohana Murtika, and Case No. 55/PUU-XXI/2023 was submitted by the Bukittinggi Mayor Erman Safar and Vice Mayor of South Lampung Pandu Kesuma Dewangsa.
