German President to Visit Yogyakarta Palace, Borobudur This Friday

TEMPO.CO, Yogyakarta - German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier is scheduled to visit Yogyakarta and Borobudur Temple on Friday, June 17, 2022, during his series of state visits to Indonesia on June 15-17, 2022.
Steinmeier will visit Borobudur Temple in Magelang, Central Java from Friday morning until noon. After that, he and the entourage will travel to Yogyakarta to visit Gadjah Mada University (UGM), Yogyakarta Palace, and Jogja National Museum.
“Reports say the German President will be at UGM for about 1.5 hours,” said the university spokesperson Satria Ardhi Nugraha on Wednesday, June 15, 2022.
At Indonesia’s oldest campus, Steinmeier will join the courtesy meeting with the university academics. “He will also visit the student and lecturer exhibition at the UGM Hall,” he said.
In the afternoon, the journey will be continued to the Yogyakarta Palace to meet the Yogyakarta Governor and the King of the Palace, Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X.
“The German President is scheduled to meet Sri Sultan HB X at 15:15 until 17:00 WIB (Western Indonesian Time),” the Yogyakarta spokesperson Ditya Nanaryo Aji confirmed.
The meeting agenda, however, was not revealed. After that, Steinmeier is scheduled to attend the cultural program at the Jogja National Museum, which is located west of the palace.
On Friday evening, Steinmeier will depart for Yogyakarta International Airport or YIA Airport and return to Berlin, Germany.
