TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Single Judge Imelda Herawati rejected the pretrial lawsuit submitted by the inactive head of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Firli Bahuri against Metro Jaya police. The decision was delivered at the South Jakarta District Court on Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2023.
"The pretrial motion is entirely rejected," declared Judge Imelda.
The court found that Firli had presented evidence irrelevant to the case since it was substantive to the case material.
Firli Bahuri proposed a pretrial lawsuit to challenge the legality of his status as a suspect in the extortion case against former Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo.
The pretrial hearing has been conducted since Monday, Dec. 11, 2023. Several witnesses have been summoned, such as former KPK deputy head Alexander Marwata, Metro Jaya police investigator, and legal experts such as Yusril Ihza Mahendra.
Metro Jaya police revealed three instances of alleged money exchange between Syahrul and Firli Bahuri at different locations and times. The amount of money allegedly extorted was Rp2.8 billion.
Meanwhile, Firli Bahuri maintained that there was insufficient evidence to name him as a suspect in this case.
