TEMPO.CO, JakartaThe Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry or Kadin collaborates across sectors to hold a discussion panel as part of the Singapore International Water Week (SIWW) 2024 agendas. The SIWW 2024 agenda will be held from June 18 to 22, 2024, at the Sands Expo & Convention Centre, Marina Bay Sands, Singapore.

As a country with the fourth largest population in the world with around 279,442,953 people, Kadin considers SIWW 2024 necessary for Indonesia. Indonesia also aspires to escape the middle-income trap and become one of the world’s largest economies.

However, Kadin’s Arsjad Rasjid said that Indonesia still faces serious challenges regarding access to clean water and proper sanitation, especially in rural areas and informal settlements in urban areas. This limitation will hinder Indonesia’s goals and its commitment to achieving Indonesia Emas 2045.

"Unfortunately, a significant proportion of Indonesia’s population still does not have access to basic sanitation," said Arsjad Rasjid in his speech. This situation highlights the urgency of achieving universal access to clean water and sanitation, both this year and in the years to come.

Therefore, Arsjad Rasjid hopes that Singapore International Water Week 2024 can produce solutions and innovations to increase access to clean water and sanitation in Indonesia.

The collaboration between Kadin and SIWW 2024 aims to create a platform for global leaders, expert practitioners, and stakeholders from various sectors to share good practices in dealing with water challenges in urban and coastal areas, as well as flood issues.

Through the SIWW 2024 agenda, novel technological innovations related to water and urban climate are expected. The platform is also expected to provide business and investment opportunities.
