TEMPO.CO, JakartaTwo residents who were reported missing after a landslide in Kelok Bento Panorama Dua, Indarung Village, Lubuk Kilangan District, Padang City, on Tuesday afternoon, May 7, 2024, were found safe. The Padang City Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) confirmed the news in its report, on Wednesday morning, May 8, 2024.

Head of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) Disaster Data, Information and Communication Center, Abdul Muhari, said the two motorbike riders were trapped by landslide material. Both were found and evacuated by the SAR (search and rescue) team.

"In addition, the Padang-Solok road access is now accessible after being blocked by the landslide material,” said Muhari in his written statement on Wednesday.

The landslide hit Padang City after heavy downpours and strong winds from Tuesday afternoon to evening, May 7, 2024. The rain caused landslide material to close the Padang-Solok road access in both directions, making it inaccessible to vehicles.

To handle the landslides, said Muhari, the joint team deployed three heavy equipment to carry out evacuations and searches for missing victims as well as cleaning up landslide material that blocked the road.
