TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Armored vehicles, water cannon trucks, and anti-riot vehicles are stationed at the Metro Jaya Police headquarters on Monday as the Islam Defenders Front (FPI) leader, Rizieq Shihab, is scheduled for questioning today.
Based on Tempo’s observation, a number of police personnel have also beefed up security and increased security checks. However, unlike the initial police summons on Rizieq, no military vehicles are seen today.
Rizieq had been summoned after he attended a mass-gathering that clearly violates the existing COVID-19 health protocols.
“We have scheduled for Muhammad Rizieq Shihab and also his son-in-law HSA,” said Metro Jaya Police chief Grand Commissioner Yusri Yunus on Monday, December 7. “We surely hope the person will be present today.”
Apart from the FPI leader, police will also question a number of Rizieq’s friends and relatives over the crowd gathering taking place in Petamburan II which have allegedly violated Article 160 of the Criminal Code and Article 93 of the Quarantine Law No.6/2018.
