TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) noted that the weather condition across Indonesian regions could be affected by the activities of tropical cyclone Ilsa, which is currently positioned over the Indian Ocean south of Sumba island, or roughly 450 kilometers south of Sabu.
The agency report states that the tropical cyclone system is moving southwest at an average speed of 7 knots away from Indonesia.
The indirect effects of the weather in the next 24 hours will likely be in the form of moderate rain and strong winds over the islands of Bali, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), and South Sulawesi.
Winds will also affect the strength of waves which the agency says could reach the average height of 2,5 - 4,0 meters in the Indian Ocean south of the islands of Java, Bali, NTT, and NTB.
BMKG also suggests a convergence zone is detected elongating from Aceh to Riau, from Bengkulu’s western ocean region, and Lampung, Maluku up to Papua. This condition could see rain clouds forming over the aforementioned regions.
