BMKG Weather Forecast: Rain in Various Areas, Hydrometeorological Disasters in North Maluku

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency or BMKG weather forecast showed that rain to fall in several Indonesian regions on Saturday, Sept. 16. Heavy rain is predicted to shower Ambon, Jayapura, and Mamuju.
Medium-intensity rain will likely fall in Medan. Meanwhile, light-intensity rain will occur in Banda Aceh, Gorontalo, Pontianak, Banjarmasin, Palangkaraya, Samarinda, Pangkal Pinang, Tanjung Pinang, Ternate, and Kendari.

Weather temperature ranges between 17 to 36 degrees Celcius. The lowest temperature is in Bandung and the highest in Makassar.
Weather forecasts based on the impact of heavy rain with alert status will occur in North Maluku. The areas with the potential for strong winds are West Nusa Tenggara and East Nusa Tenggara.
BMKG released an early warning on the potential of high waves in several Indonesian waters on September 16-17.
Wind patterns in the northern part of Indonesia generally move from southeast - southwest with wind speeds ranging from 5 - 20 knots. Meanwhile, in the southern part of Indonesia, it generally moves from east - southeast at a speed of 8 - 30 knots. The highest wind speed was observed in the Indian Ocean south of Sumba Island, waters west of Selayar Islands, and waters south of Merauke.
This condition will possibly affect the increasing waves as high as 2.5 - 4 meters in the waters north of Sabang, waters west of Aceh, waters west of Bengkulu to Lampung, the Indian Ocean west of Aceh to Nias Islands, western and southern Sunda Strait, waters south of Bali to Sumbawa, southern Bali-Lombok-Alas Strait, southern Sape Strait, waters south of Sumba Island, Savu Sea, Indian Ocean south of NTT, waters south of Tanimbar Islands, Banda Sea south of Sula Island and Arafuru Sea. Meanwhile, very high waves, 4 - 6 meters are likely to occur in the Indian Ocean west of Mentawai Islands to Lampung and the Indian Ocean south of Banten to West Nusa Tenggara or NTB.
