Hyundai Ioniq 5 Batik in GIIAS 2023 Marks South Korea-Indonesia 50-years Relation

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Hyundai Motors Indonesia (HMID) launched its Ioniq EV with batik patterns dubbed the Hyundai Ioniq 5 Indonesia Batik at Gaikindo International Auto Show (GIIAS 2023) on Thursday, August 10, 2023. The electric car was painted with Yogyakarta's Batik Kawung patterns.
"Hyundai Ioniq 5 Indonesia Batik arrives as an innovative vehicle while simultaneously paying homage to Indonesia's traditional values. This car is created specifically for Indonesia's market," said President Director of PT HMID Woojune Cha at GIIAS 2023.
The launching of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 Batik marks the 50th anniversary of the South Korea-Indonesia bilateral relationship.
The batik patterns were painted on the interior and exterior of the car, such as the hood, roof, side of the car, and rear door of the car. They are light grey in color with metallic ornaments. It was also painted on the seat, armrest, and car horn.
Hyundai designed the batik armrest with light brown colors and pattern choices. The Kawung pattern was chosen as a reflection of unity and harmony, a philosophy in line with Hyundai's global vision.
"The most important aspect of this model is the mixture of harmonization and sustainability of Ioniq 5, symbolizing Hyundai's sophisticated technology and innovation, with batik which symbolizes Indonesian cultural tradition and heritage," said Senior Designer CMF Team Hyundai Motor Company, Bongrae Kim.
