Palace to Hold Independence Day Ceremony for Public

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Head of the Presidential Secretariat Heru Budi Hartono said the State Palace will hold a public ceremony to celebrate the 77th Independence Day, inviting the general public in a limited number to attend the flag-hoisting ceremony on August 17, 2022.
“We have prepared everything, and this year, the Palace will publicly hold the August 17 ceremony,” said Heru at a press conference broadcast on the Presidential Secretariat's Youtube channel monitored in Jakarta, Monday, August 1, 2022.
According to him, the Merdeka Palace will invite around 2,000-3,000 people to the annual ceremony. The Palace will also invite the ministers of the Indonesia Onward Cabinet, heads of state institution, as well as a number of high-ranking officers in the Indonesian Military (TNI) and the National Police.
This year’s celebration will be different from last year’s which was attended by a very limited number of participants due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the Palace will also broadcast the ceremony virtually through various channels.
The Presidential Secretariat’s Deputy for Protocol, Press, and Media, Bey Machmudin, explained that the public willing to attend the 77th Independence Day ceremony can register via the palace’s official page pandang.istanapresiden.go.id.
