TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Knowing the cost of living index in a country is an important thing to do if you are planning to move to another country or just want to travel.

The cost of living from one country to another is definitely different. However, there are several countries with the most expensive cost of living in the world, which require tens of millions per month to live there.

This is influenced by expensive property rental costs, food costs, transportation, taxes, and other factors that trigger high living costs.

The following is a list of 12 countries with the most expensive cost of living in the world:

There are 12 countries in the world with the most expensive cost of living index for 2024 according to Numbeo, which is measured based on house rent, food, transportation, restaurants and utilities indices.

1. Bermuda

Bermuda is a country located east of North Carolina and is an archipelagic country that has seven main islands with many other small islands.

To live in this country, you need living costs of around US$1,982.99 or in rupiah around Rp31 million per month, not including house rent. Bermuda's cost of living index score is the highest in the world, reaching 113.6.

2. Switzerland

The next country with the most expensive cost of living is Switzerland. The estimated cost of living per person to live in this country located in the heart of Europe is around 1,200-1,700 Euros or the equivalent of Rp20-29 million per month.
