TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - There are plenty of destinations in Jakarta for its people to visit during the long weekend of the Eid al-Adha holiday from Saturday, June 15 to Tuesday, June 18, 2024. Here is the list of three parks in South Jakarta that can be visited for free:
1. Taman Literasi (Literacy Park)
One of the free destinations you can enjoy in South Jakarta is the Literacy Park of Martha Christina Tiahahu known as Taman Literasi Blok M. It is located in the Blok M area, South Jakarta, right across the famous shopping mall Blok M Plaza.
Inaugurated by Governor Anies Baswedan in September 2022, the park is a space for the community to engage in various activities related to literacy, culture, and the creative economy.
Blok M Literacy Park not only provides a calm and cool atmosphere amid busy traffic and pollution in Jakarta, but also provides various inclusive facilities such as a reading room, flower plaza, children's plaza, and others.
In addition, this park offers a culinary area with various food choices as well as several interesting photo spots. People who come to Blok M Literacy Park by private vehicles can park their vehicles at Blok M Plaza or Blok M Mall.
Meanwhile, those using public transportation can take the Transjakarta Bus to Blok M and Jakarta MRT to Blok M station.
2. Taman Ayodia Barito (Ayodia Park in Barito)
Inaugurated by Governor Fauzi Bowo in March 2009, Ayodia Park in Barito is one of the green open spaces that Jakartans use to rest or do light exercise.
This park has a large pond in the center, surrounded by large trees and seating built in tiers resembling an amphitheater.
The best time to visit this park is in the morning and evening when the sun is not too hot and the air is still fresh. After 5 pm, street food vendors start setting up their stalls around the park.
