Soekarno-Hatta Airport Runs Manual Immigration Clearance as System Down

21 June 2024 12:49 WIB

TEMPO.CO, Tangerang - Soekarno-Hatta Airport is still operating manual immigration services following the disruption in the National Data Center (PDN) server of the Communication and Information Technology (Kominfo) Ministry, which has been down since Thursday, June 21.

“It hasn't recovered yet, the service is still manual,” Soekarno Hatta Airport Immigration Checkpoint (TPI) Head Bismo Surono said to Tempo on Friday morning.

As previously reported, the National Data Center (PDN) 2 server has been down since 4:15 a.m. Thursday, June 20. Bismo said that immigration services at the international airport have been carried out manually since then. He assured that the services would run as normal.

Immigration Director-General Silmy Karim also guaranteed that immigration and crossing services at airports and ports would continue to run despite the system disruptions.

“Immigration officers remain to serve people at international airports and have flights,” Silmy said in a written statement on Thursday.

He advised air passengers to arrive at the airport early in case the immigration process does not work as it should.

Soekarno-Hatta Airport Police Chief Commissioner Roberto GM Pasaribu said security had been beefed up with additional personnel to assist Immigration and Aviation Security, or Avsec, officers.

“There have been additional personnel since yesterday afternoon (Thursday),” Roberto told Tempo on Friday, June 21, mentioning that 30 airport police have been dispatched to Terminal 2 and Terminal 3.
