TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has again issued an early warning for a number of regions about potential hydrometeorological disasters such as floods and landslides in today's weather forecast, March 10. The regions, including Riau Islands, Riau, and West Kalimantan, are asked to be prepared for the impact of rain showers.
The early warning is released in line with the monitoring of cyclonic circulation, among others, on the west coast of West Kalimantan. The agency also detected the movement of Tropical Cyclone 97P seeds in Carpentaria Bay, Australia. Its movement tends to be persistent with a low potential to grow into a tropical cyclone today.
However, the system induced an increase in wind speeds of more than 25 knots (low-level jet) from the Arafuru Sea to northern Australia. These conditions can increase the growth potential of rain clouds, wind speed, and the height of the surrounding sea waves.
Rain Showers Forecasted in Big Cities
Rain accompanied by lightning is expected in Jambi and Banjarmasin. Heavy rain will likely hit Bandung, while moderate-intensity rain is forecasted to shower Serang, Surabaya, Pangkal Pinang, Pekanbaru, Kendari, and Medan.
The air temperature ranges from 18-33 degrees Celsius, with the lowest temperature in Bandung and the highest temperature in Denpasar, Gorontalo, Surabaya, Ternate, and Makassar.
High Wave Alert
BMKG further issued potential high sea waves at 2.50 - 4.0 meters in the North Natuna Sea, in the northern waters of Natuna, and Subi - Serasan Waters.
