5.9M Earthquake, Aftershock Strike Bengkulu

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Bengkulu Province has again jolted by an earthquake measuring 5.0 magnitude today, Oct. 15, at 10:00 a.m. The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency reported that the quake occurred in the waters, 152 kilometers southwest Bengkulu.
The epicenter is located at 4.50 degrees south latitude and 101.08 degrees east longitude at a depth of 10 kilometers. The incident has no potential of a tsunami.
BMKG calls on the public to remain vigilant of possible aftershocks.
Earlier today, at 05:23 a.m., a 5.9 magnitude quake hit northwestern waters of Enggano, Bengkulu, or precisely at 4.60 degrees south latitude and 101.05 degrees east longitude at 10 kilometers in depth.
The tremor is felt up to the level III to IV of the MMI scale in Bengkulu, Seluma, and Kepahiang. There is no report yet on casualties and damages.
