President Joko Widodo has inaugurated the Mandalika Circuit, Friday, November 12, 2021. After being inaugurated, this circuit is ready to host world-class racing events, including WorldSBK Indonesia 2021 and MotoGP 2022.

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Regional Police have tightened security for the 2021 World Superbike (WSBK) event at the Mandalika International Street Circuit, Central Lombok district by installing multiple checkpoints for inspections.

"It aims to strengthen the enforcement of health protocols and to rid any dangerous things which can disrupt the event," head of the NTB Regional Police, Inspector General Mohammad Iqbal, said here on Wednesday.

The first checkpoint is located at the Lombok International Airport (BIL) Roundabout, which is the meeting point of the BIL-Mandalika bypass road and the Sengol-Kuta Highway, he informed.

Officers will check visitors’ identity, luggage, and vehicles at the checkpoint, he said.

The next inspection will take place in the two parking areas of the venue, which are located close to the Sunggung Roundabout and the Nurul Bilad Mosque, Iqbal said.

Security personnel will check spectators’ belongings thoroughly and confiscate any item considered a threat to security, he added.

In addition, they will also check visitors’ health documents, such as complete vaccination certificates and COVID-19 antigen test results, he said.

"Before boarding the shuttle bus, we will verify the audiences’ belongings again to make sure that the people entering the circuit do not bring any dangerous things," the regional police head informed.

Meanwhile, the third inspection will be implemented at the entrance gate of the Mandalika Circuit, he said.

Officers will look for any dangerous items once again among the visitors’ possessions to ensure security in the racing area, he added.

There will be thousands of security personnel and a number of operation vehicles deployed at the international event, he said.

The personnel will include 2,058 personnel from the NTB Regional Police and the local Resort Police, 408 personnel from the National Police Headquarters, 300 personnel from the Indonesian Military Forces, as well as 465 joint security personnel from government agencies and the community, he added.
