9 October 2023 20:05 WIB

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Before the start of the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia 2023 on October 13, MotoGP riders are scheduled to participate in Beach Cleaning and Coral Planting at Kuta Beach, Mandalika, on Thursday, October 12, 2023. The event is part of the #waste4change campaigns to showcase the corporate social responsibility of MotGP riders for the environmental sustainability around Lombok.

The Coral Planting event is a cooperation with Mataram University, represented by Marine Professor Hilman Ahayadi. Hilman explained that the planting is intended to develop and strengthen the riders' sense of love and care toward the environment. "Additionally, the action is a small step to repair the coal ecosystem in Mandalika," he said.

The event will be hosted in Pullman Hotel and Kuta Beach. riders will be welcomed with a dance and opening remarks from Indonesia Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) and Mandalika Grand Prix Association (MGPA). Then, the riders will walk toward the Beach Cleaning and Coral Planting area. The participants will be guided by Mataram University students and alumni on the correct coral planting technique.

"Hopefully, this activity will make an example out of the riders and prompt the public to pay more attention to the environment," said Marketing Manager Commercial MGPA Norman Haka.

After the activities, the riders will be invited to visit Bazaar Mandalika through Kuta Lane, the connector between Bazaar Mandalika and Kuta Beach. The riders will meet local MSMEs displaying traditional Lombok products.
