TEMPO.CO, Nusa Dua, Bali - Indonesia has sped up preparations for the 10th World Water Forum (WWF) scheduled for May 18–25 in Bali, according to Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan.

"The preparations have gone well until today," he said on the sidelines of a coordination meeting in Nusa Dua, Bali, on Saturday.

The meeting discussed various aspects, including security, disaster mitigation, and the preparation of medical facilities.

Ministers from 193 countries are expected to attend the WWF forum to discuss the use of water for welfare.

"In the future, water will become a serious problem in the world; that is why this forum is very important," Luhut said, adding that several activities will be held on the sidelines of the forum.

Saturday's meeting was also attended by some high-ranking officials, including Chief of the National Police (Polri), Police General Listyo Sigit Prabowo; Commander of the Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI), General Agus Subiyanto; and Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno.

Head of the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), Dwikorita Karnawati, and Acting Bali Governor Sang Made Mahendra Jaya also participated in the coordination meeting.

The WWF is an international meeting of water resources stakeholders, including governments, parliaments, academicians, multilateral institutions, non-governmental organizations, and industries.

"This will be the last international forum in Indonesia under President Joko Widodo. We want him to have his special memories of this agenda," Luhut concluded.
