TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Lombok’s Mandalika Circuit will hold the MotoGP race on October 13-15. The organizer is improving the preparations, including painting the curb or run-off area of the circuit.
Moreover, there is a change in Mandalika Circuit’s track limit. MGPA director Priandhi Satria said there was a change in color on the track limit as set in the newest regulation by FIM.
“From the outside of the circuit, we repainted the white lines. The curb faded, so we repainted it to red and white again. Previously, the outer side of the red and white was green, now the new FIM regulations state that green is only for the track limit (color). So outside of this, the color choice can be anything, it can be red, it can be blue, anything other than green. So we had to paint everything, changing the green to red,” said MGPA director Priandhi Satria in Jakarta on Tuesday, October 3.
There are also changes to the track limit which was previously at Corner 9 but now was moved to the next corner.
"Some parts have changed. The track limit at Corner 9 for example, now it has been moved to another place. So what was not green paint, we painted it green, and what was green we made it red because we didn't use it," Priandhi explained.
Andhi added that Dorna also asked for a change in the timing loop which was released slightly from before. Later, the timing loop will not be on a predetermined line.
Track limits are the green outline of the circuit. Track limits usually exist in several track sectors. The function of the line is to ensure that racers stay on track so that they do not take advantage by going wide.
For racers who exceed the track limits, either intentionally or unintentionally, 5 times during the main race, the race director will give the rider a punishment in the form of a long lap penalty.
