TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - An earthquake measured at magnitude 4.9 rocked Jayapura, Papua, in the early morning of Monday, January 2. The quake originated 14 kilometers Northeast of the region’s coastline and from a depth of 10 kilometers, the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reported.
The quake was felt by residents in Jayapura City and Regency at the IV MMI intensity scale.
So far, the earthquake was reportedly felt more than one time, based on the replies to the news published on BMKG’s Twitter account.
