BMKG Records 108 Aftershocks in Bali, 424 in Cianjur

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics (BMKG) reported that aftershocks were still detected in two earthquake locations; Cianjur in West Java dan Karangasem in Bali.
Head of BMKG's earthquake and tsunami center, Daryono, said that the aftershocks in Bali were recorded to occur more than 100 times since the first main quake hit the region at magnitude 5.2 on December 13, at 17:38 western Indonesia time. “There have been 108 aftershocks,” Daryono wrote on his social media post on December 17.
Based on the image he posted, the center of the aftershock in Bali was less than 60 km or categorized as shallow.
Meanwhile, in Cianjur, Daryono went on, it was starting to be stable with 424 aftershocks.
Damages in Karangasem, Bali
Disaster Mitigation Agency Karangasem chapter reported that as of December 17, eight sub-districts were affected with the most damaged spots found in Kubu Subdistrict at 93 locations. Eight people spread over seven villages sustained mostly light injuries.
BPBD also recorded that 186 buildings were affected by the quake; 120 houses sustain light damage, 19 private temples also sustain light damage, and 10 houses sustain moderate damage.
