TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) released a weather forecast for Greater Jakarta or Jabodetabek, covering the capital city and its neighboring regions, today, May 6.
According to the agency's prediction, the capital city will experience partly cloudy skies in the morning, which will remain in the afternoon. However, the western region will be overcast, while the southern and eastern areas will receive rainfall. All city areas will return to have partly cloudy skies in the evening.
Air temperatures in the capital will range from 24 to 30 degrees Celsius on the mainland and 28 to 30 degrees Celsius on the Thousand Islands. Humidity is expected to be around 70 to 90 percent.
Weather Forecast for Jakarta’s Neighbors
In the neighboring regions, including Bekasi, Cibinong (Bogor Regency), Depok, and Bogor City, the weather will be partly sunny in the morning, but all these areas have the potential for rain in the afternoon.
The BMKG predicted light rain in Bekasi and heavy rain with lightning in other regions. The rain will persist until the evening, with light intensity in Bekasi, Cibinong, and Depok, and moderate intensity in Bogor.
“Beware of the possibility of rain with lightning and strong winds during the day and night in parts of Bogor Regency, Bogor City, and Depok City,” the agency issued an early weather warning.
For Bekasi and Depok, the air temperature is expected to be around 24-32 degrees Celsius, while for Cibinong and Bogor City, it will be 25-30 degrees and 23-30 degrees, respectively. The humidity will range between 55% and 95%.
In Tangerang City, Serpong (South Tangerang City), and Tigaraksa (Tangerang Regency), the weather will be partly sunny in the morning and will persist in the afternoon. \
At night, the BMKG said that there is a chance of light rain in Tangerang and Tigaraksa, while Serpong will remain overcast. The region's air temperature will be between 23-33 degrees Celsius with a humidity level of around 60-95%.
