TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta's Tanah Abang Market, during the 2-day reopening since the extension of Level 4 PPKM, was seen to be empty from visitors. The market manager Heri Supriyatna said the number of visitors during these two days was no more than 2,000 people.

"Approximately only 1,000-1,500 visitors," said Heri via short message on Tuesday night, July 27, 2021.

Heri said that before the re-enforcement of the Covid-19 curbs, the number of the market visitors could reach 10,000-15,000 per day. Traders and visitors are worried because of the further extension of PPKM Level 4.

"Visitors from outside the city still have difficulty accessing Jakarta," he said.

People from outside the city usually dominate Tanah Abang visitors. They want to shop wholesale to resell in their respective areas.

PPKM Level 4 regulates that markets other than those selling basic commodities are allowed to open until 15:00.

Visitor capacity is also limited to 50 percent. They are also required to show the vaccination card to enter the market.

Heri dismissed the idea that the lack of visitors is due to the requirement of vaccination cards. According to him, the visitors already have the awareness to show vaccination cards even before being asked by the officers.
