TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Tanah Abang Market, Central Jakarta, was reopened today. Even so, the opening hour is limited only until 3PM, as directed by President Joko Widodo regarding the PPKM Level 4.
According to Tanah Abang Market Manager Heri Supriyatna, the opening hours of this largest textile market in Asia is starting at 07AM, Monday, July 26 2021. The markets that are opened are Blocks A, B, F, and G.
"The entire Tanah Abang Market area is open today, with provisions from 7AM to 3PM," said Heri in Jakarta, today.
As for the visitor capacity, Heri said it was still limited to 50 percent according to government regulations.
The operational provisions of the markets, including the Tanah Abang Market, are regulated in the Instruction of the Minister of Home Affairs Number 24/2021 concerning PPKM Level 4 and Level 3 in the Java and Bali regions.
The regulation states that markets that sell non-daily necessities can operate with a maximum capacity of 50 percent and operating hours until 3PM local time.
Tanah Abang Market was closed during the implementation of Emergency PPKM on 3rd to 25th of July 2021. Only the market in Block G which sells food ingredients were allowed to operate.
Previously, there was a video circulating showing white flags at several locations in Tanah Abang Market. The flag indicates that traders have given up on the closure during Emergency PPKM. However, when Tempo passed the area yesterday (26/07), the white flag was no longer there.
