TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Metro Jaya Police stated that it needed time to investigate the five police officers arrested during an illegal drugs party in Depok on April 19. The policemen were being questioned by the Internal Affairs Division (Propam) and the Narcotics Investigation Directorate to prove the alleged violations of the code of ethics and drug abuse.
“Please wait,” Jakarta Metro Jaya Police’s Chief of Public Relations, Senior Commissioner Ade Ary Syam Indradi, said at his office in Jakarta on Thursday, April 25.
Ade explained that the examination was also aimed at gathering information on the origin of the methamphetamine used by the police members, on whether or not it came from confiscated evidence. “We're all looking into that,” he added.
Based on the results of urine tests, four police officers tested positive for illegal drugs, while the other one from the East Jakarta Police tested negative. However, the police are grilling all of them.
“This [investigation] takes time. It needs a process,” said Ade
East Jakarta Police Chief Senior Commissioner Nicolas Ary Lilipaly said the arrested member had returned to duty. “He is now back serving at the East Jakarta Metro Police,” Nicolas told Tempo by phone on Monday, April 22.
The five police officers arrested during the drug party were Brigadier 1 FAR, Brigadier FAG, Brigadier IR, Brigadier DN, and Brigadier DP. FAG (30) and FAR (26) are siblings. They were raided by the Sukmajaya Depok Police Criminal Investigation Unit team at the home of FAG and FAR's parents in Palsigunung Village, Cimanggis, Depok, West Java.
