TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Home-grown e-commerce platform Tokopedia has decided to increase its merchant service fees, which will come into effect from May 1, 2024. The service fees for Power Merchant and Power Merchant Pro sellers will be increased to between 2 and 6.5 percent across five product categories.
Nuraini Razak, Tokopedia's Director of Corporate Affairs, revealed that the increase in service fees is aimed at providing sellers with more programs to reach wider consumers.
“This is actually an investment for the sellers. They can reach more consumers and run more campaigns. There must be a cost component to everything,” Nuraini said in Central Jakarta on Thursday, April 25.
She assured that the hike in service fee would not be a burden on either consumers or sellers as the company has taken into account the cost components.
Tokopedia, she claimed, had refrained from raising service fees for product sales for a long time. Although it was finally raised in early May, she believed that it was for the sustainability of Tokopedia's business.
The increase in service fees ranging from 2 to 6.5 percent will apply to Shop Tokopedia via the TikTok application. Tokopedia would also continue to offer promotions and cashback, as part of the campaign to help sellers, particularly those with local products, to achieve more sales.
