TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Chair of the IKN Infrastructure Development Task Force Danis Sumadilaga said the commissioning phase for clean water in the Nusantara Capital City or IKN is slated for July 10, 2024. The government is known to have targeted to hold a commemorative ceremony of the Indonesian Independence Day on August 17 in Nusantara.
"Meaning, clean water will be distributed to the new capital starting July 15,” Danis said on Friday, July 5, 2024.
Previously, Public Works and Housing Minister Basuki Hadimuljono targeted to complete the construction of the Sepaku Drinking Water Supply System (SPAM) by July. This facility is intended to meet drinking water needs in IKN and is expected to serve all plots in the IKN Central Government Core Area or KIPP.
The Sepaku SPAM relies on the Sepaku River’s intake. The SPAM consists of a Water Treatment Plant (WTP) with a capacity of 300 liters per second, a Drinking Water Transmission Pipeline Network as well as a Main Distribution Network, and a Divider Distribution Network.
In mid-June, Basuki said a 16-kilometer-long pipe had been connected to the main reservoir. "Water will be pumped into the reservoir from the water treatment plant as drinking water with a capacity of 2 x 6,000 cubic meters," said Basuki in a written statement, on Friday, June 14, 2024.
Head of the East Kalimantan Regional Settlement Infrastructure Center, Rozali Indra Saputra, explained that the intake unit will pump the raw water to the water treatment plant.
After, the produced potable water is stored in the clearwell to be pumped to the main reservoir through the 16-kilometer-long pipe network. "Potable water from the main reservoir is then flowed in stages for 22 kilometers through the main and divider networks to the service area," said Indra.
"We will build 2 x 300 liter per second WTP going forward in line with projected services for new building plots and population growth at the core area of Nusantara."
