TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Olympic Committee (NOC) unveiled the official uniforms for Team Indonesia at the upcoming Paris Olympics on Thursday, July 4. The designs, created by fashion designer Didit Hediprasetyo, have garnered positive feedback.
Two distinct styles are presented: a classic red and white design and a sleek black jersey with red and white accents on the sleeves.
Didit, son of President-elect Prabowo Subianto, said the design was inspired by the national anthem "Berkibarlah Benderaku". He hoped the jerseys would inspire athletes to reach their full potential.
“The song 'Berkibarlah Benderaku' was the inspiration for this Merah Putih jersey collection,” Didit said at the launch event at Nusantara Garden in Darmawangsa, South Jakarta, on Thursday.
The launch showcased the jerseys in a unique exhibition format, combining photography and fine art with appearances by athletes and models, including Ario Bayu, Mawar Eva De Jongh, and former racing driver Rio Haryanto.
In addition to the jerseys, the collection includes sport-specific apparel, such as t-shirts, shirt pants, and track pants tailored for rowing, gymnastics, athletics, badminton, and more.
Anindya Bakrie, Chef de Mission of Team Indonesian for the 2024 Paris Olympics, appreciated Didit’s work. “The design is fantastic,” she said, hoping these uniforms would boost athletes’ confidence during the parade and competitions.
“I am sure this will be of interest to many people and motivate athletes to win the games,” she added.
Team Indonesia will be represented by 29 athletes competing in 12 sports at the Paris Olympics, which will be held from July 26 to August 11, 2024. The NOC has not yet set a specific minimum target for medals.
The online response has also been enthusiastic as seen from the comments on the jersey post on Team Indonesia's Instagram account @timindonesiaofficial.
Didit Hediprasetyo expressed his delight and openness to collaborating with other sports, including the Indonesian football national team. “I'm thrilled with the response and I'd really like to work together with them. Hopefully, we can work with other sports federations in the future,” he said.
