TNI Creates BlackBerry Messenger Account to Prevent Hoax

  • TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) collaborated with the Indonesian Army (TNI AD) to prevent the spread of hoax. The official BBM account will be used by the TNI AD as a medium of sharing actual information and clarifying hoax about the military unit.

    “As a messaging application, from and for Indonesia, BBM continues to develop various content that is relevant to the community, one of which is by providing military information directly from the TNI AD,” said the Vice President Product BBM, Hadikusuma Wahab, Wednesday, January 2.

    The Official Account is one of the BBM features for companies or organizations to communicate with the public. The TNI AD will utilize the BBM Official Account as a medium of dissemination and communication between organizations and communities.

    “In celebrating this collaboration, BBM also launched a sticker package, BBM users can download stickers of the TNI AD for free,” he said.

    The Head of the TNI AD Information Service Brig. Gen. TNI Candra Wijaya appreciates the collaboration between the TNI AD and BBM.

    “BBM is a message application belonging to the Indonesian people, for which the TNI AD cooperates with BBM to be the right media to provide information in the digital era,” said Candra.

    Candra explained that the information in the official TNI AD account on BBM could help increase public understanding of the duties and obligations of the military unit throughout Indonesia. Candra hopes that various information from the TNI AD can strengthen the unity the Indonesian people.

    “The rapid flow of information now makes the TNI AD have to actively provide accurate information about the TNI AD. Therefore, the public can seek official information from the TNI AD through the official TNI AD account on BBM,” said Candra.
