TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Public Works and Public Housing Ministry’s (PUPR) Structure and Construction Expert Team Priyo Susilo admitted shortage of experts in infrastructure projects. "We are having such an issue in the ministry because the government imposed moratorium of civil servants. We do not have enough experts," Priyo said inJakarta on Saturday (24/2).

The lack of experts is alleged to contribute to accidents in a number of recent infrastructure projects, one of which is the collapse of bekisting pier head in the project Bekasi-Cawang-Kampung-Melayu (Becakayu) Toll Road taking place on Tuesday (20/2).

In addition, massive construction volume seems to pose an impact. Priyo explained that state-owned companies (BUMN) in construction sector has not made sufficient preparations in terms of experts.
