TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Garut prosecutor's office arrested Tohidi, a corruptor who had been on the run for 12 years. Tohidi was involved in a case of misusing the budget for the construction of a fish auction site in Cilauteureun, Garut Regency, West Java. He was arrested in Subang Regency.

"He has been in the most wanted list for 12 years," the chief of the Garut District Attorney, Neva Dewi Susanti, said on Friday, September 17, 2021.

Tohidi, Neva said, was convicted in 2009 for corruption practices in the development of the Cilauteureun Fish Auction Place during the 2005 budget year. The West Java Provincial Government project was not implemented according to regulations, and authorities found a state loss of Rp599 million from a total budget of more than Rp1.1 billion.

Neva said Tohidi was sentenced to 2 years in prison and ordered to pay a fine of Rp200 million substitutable with an additional six months of prison time.

Tohidi was the second person arrested by the Garut District Attorney's Office Fugitive Team. Last week, they arrested a former member of the Garut DPRD convicted for state budget corruption who had been on the run for 13 years.
