TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Public Relations Manager of PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) Operations Area 2 (Daop 2) Bandung, Ayep Hanapi, said that 11 trains were urged to halt temporarily during the Garut earthquake in West Java, Indonesia, on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at 23:29 WIB (Western Indonesian Time).
"This quick action is to ensure that there is no damage to the railway or bridge structures in the Daop 2 Bandung area, as well as to anticipate things that could disrupt train travel," he said, in his statement, Sunday, April 28, 2024 .
The eleven trains are: Pangandaran Train, 385 Commuterline Bandung Raya Train, 348 Commuterline Bandung Raya Train, 369 Commuterline Bandung Raya Train. Kahuripan Train, Serayu Train, Baturaden Express Train, Lodaya Train, Mutiara Selatan Train, South Kutojata Train, and Serayu Train. The train was asked to temporarily stop its journey after PT KAI Operational Area 2 Bandung implemented an extraordinary stop (BLB).
Ayep said that during the BLB all the tracks that the eleven trains would pass through were immediately inspected. The inspection was completed today, Sunday, April 28 2024, at 00.33 WIB and it was declared safe for trains to pass.
He confirmed that there would be no damage caused by the Garut earthquake to the train station. All trains then continued their journey again after being delayed due to the implementation of the BLB.
"Daop 2 Bandung apologizes for the train being delayed for several minutes because a track check was carried out to ensure the train's journey was safe and secure," said Ayep.
