TEMPO.CO, JakartaThe Indonesian government is working to build a smart defense system in the Nusantara Capital City, or IKN. This system will be developed through coordination between ministries and other related parties.

"We are able to realize the IKN defense system as per what has been established, namely the Smart Defense System," said Deputy for National Defense Coordination at the Ministry of Political, Legal and Security Affairs Rear Admiral of TNI Kisdiyanto as quoted by Antara, Friday, May 8, 2024.

According to the 2022-2024 master plan for the IKN’s state defense system, the government must up the defense in the new capital city because the president will be seated in IKN starting July this year, Kisdiyanto said. Furthermore, in 2025, the government must focus on enhancing both the IKN defense system and the country as a whole.

Therefore, he believes that improvements are needed in the field of defense technology and strategy to support the IKN defense system master plan for 2024 and 2025. "The use of technology is key, which must be our collective concern in overseeing the realization of the national defense system at IKN," he said.

Kisdiyanto hopes coordination between ministries and the military, the National Police and all well-known defense institutions can run well to create a smart defense system at IKN.

Kisdiyanto believes that by creating a good security and defense system at IKN, the nation's capital will be safe from foreign attacks that could disrupt the running of the government.
