TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Legal Aid Foundation (YLBHI) Director Asfinawati said the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) should call in Minister of Law and Human Rights Yasonna Laoly and Immigration Director-General Ronny Sompie over the delay information on the whereabouts of graft suspect Harun Masiku.

Asfi suspected that there was an attempt of justice obstruction during the investigation of the case.

“This is an indication of justice obstruction that needs to be investigated because this is a serious case. In all political crime, there are always not only the plan but also attempts to eliminate traces and avoid the law,” Asfi told Tempo on Wednesday, January 22.

The PDIP politician was named a suspect in the bribery case incriminating Election Commission (KPU) commissioner Wahyu Setiawan. Since the suspect naming, his whereabouts were unknown.

Immigration announced that based on its final note, Harun left for Singapore on January 6 and had not yet returned. But on Wednesday, January 22, the Immigration office admitted that Harun had been in Indonesia since January 7, claiming there was a delay in data entry.

Therefore, Asfi urged the anti-graft body investigators to ask for evidence related to the data error at the airport. “If this cannot be proven, it means there is an intentional lie to disrupt the investigation,” Asfi underlined.

The YLBHI Director also demanded Yasonna to be summoned for examination following his statement that seconded the immigration’s remarks about Harun.

Meanwhile, Yasonna Laoly denied the allegation saying he had the intention to inform that Harun Masiku was abroad during the sting operation against the KPU commissioner on January 8. "I am a religious person. I swear to God, there is an error [in the airport’s system data]," said the minister on Wednesday.
