TEMPO.CO, JakartaEma Sumarna, the regional secretary of Bandung city, has resigned from his post effective Wednesday, March 13. Earlier, the Corruption Eradication Commission or KPK named Ema as a suspect in the alleged corruption case in the procurement of CCTV for Bandung Smart City.

"Mr. Ema had resigned on Wednesday. The acting mayor also knows about it," confirmed Yayan A. Brilyana, head of the Bandung City Communication and Information Service, on Thursday, March 14.

Yayan did not specify the reasons for the resignation but said that the acting major, Bambang Tirtoyuliono, had been instructed to have the registration processed according to the procedure. Yayan said the acting major had also ordered all public services to continue.

The KPK named Ema Sumarna as a suspect in the alleged corruption case in the procurement of CCTV for Bandung Smart City. He arrived at the KPK building for questioning yesterday, March 14.

Ema did not say anything when asked by reporters about his interrogation. His lawyer, Riski Risgantara, said he had received a notification letter about his client's status as a suspect on March 5, and that they had come to the KPK to comply with the summons.

The corruption case in the procurement of CCTV for the Bandung Smart City system involved Yana Mulyana during his term as mayor of Bandung. Yana was arrested during a KPK sting operation on April 14, 2023. The Bandung Corruption Court sentenced him to 4 years in prison and a fine of Rp200 million.
