TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The qualification round of the 2018 AFC U-19 has ended and the list of rivals-to-be of the Indonesian U-19 team has been revealed. As many as 15 teams that will reach the final round to compete with Indonesia U-19, which will also be the host nation.
The 16 teams have been spread into four groups/ pots for the tournament that will be held on October 18 to November 4, 2018. Other than the champion title, the tournament will also fight for a slot at the 2019 U-20 World Cup.
Here are the pot divisions in the tournament:
Pot A: Indonesia, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Vietnam.
Pot B: Iraq, Tajikistan, South Korea, United Arab Emirate.
Pot C: Australia, Qatar, China, Thailand.
Pot D: North Korea, Jordan, Malaysia, Taiwan.
The elimination round will be separated into four groups. Teams from Pot A will join teams from the other three Pots.
Based on the composition, Indonesia U-19 will likely face a difficult challenge by being in a group with South Korea, facing Australia and Malaysia.
