Indonesia Secures 10th Spot in Paris 2024 Olympics with Weightlifting Athlete Eko Yuli Irawan

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia continues to secure spots in the Paris 2024 Olympics. Eko Yuli Irawan became the latest athlete to qualify for the Olympics after he competed at the International Weightlifting World Cup in Phuket, Thailand, on Tuesday, April 3. The 34-year-old lifter successfully completed the 133-kilogram snatch but fell short of perfectly executing a clean and jerk lift due to his knee injury.
Previously, Eko contributed bronze and silver medals at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, 2012 London Olympics, 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics, and 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Chairman of the Indonesian Olympic Committee (KOI) Raja Sapta Oktohari asked for the support of the Indonesian people so that the weightlifter could win gold at the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympics.
Eko Yuli Irawan became the 10th Indonesian athlete to qualify for the 2024 Olympics. Previously, nine other athletes had qualified, including two through wild card facilities.

Two athletes who qualify through wild cards are from the athletics branch, Lalu Muhammad Zohri and Odekta Naibaho. Meanwhile, the qualifier series for the 2024 Paris Olympics is expected to last until June 2024.
