TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani met Vice President Mar’uf Amin to report on the results of the IMF-World Bank Spring Meeting and G20 meetings she attended in Washington DC last week. During the meeting, Sri Mulyani also discussed mitigation for the geopolitical tension in the Middle East.
"Geopolitical tensions are changing rapidly, prompting many countries to become increasingly careful in mitigating the current global risks," the minister posted on her Instagram on Monday, April 29, 2024.
According to her, several countries also expressed concerns over the heavy pressure the rising conflicts are putting on their respective economies. Indonesia is also affected by the situation, albeit not as strongly.
The former Managing Director of the World Bank ensured that the State Budget (APBN) was well maintained and optimally reduced various global pressures. "Thank God, our economic stability is still maintained," she said.
Sri Mulyani said she would continue to be vigilant of the dynamic global risks. The State Budget will also remain responsive and flexible to protect the people and the Indonesian economy.
Previously, Sri Mulyani said that geopolitical tensions in the Middle East became the focus of world leaders, which will have a significant economic impact. One of the impacts is the oil price hike.
"We have to be aware of these various geopolitical factors because they will spread and have an impact on our economy," he said.
