Jokowi to Meet Microsoft Boss, Discusses Investment Plan

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo or Jokowi received a working visit from Microsoft Chief Executive Officer Satya Nadella at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Tuesday, April 30, 2024.
Based on Tempo's observation, the Microsoft boss was seen entering through the front door of the State Palace at around 08:25 a.m. local time. Nadella, wearing a navy blue suit, did not give any statement.
Minister of Communication and Informatics Budi Arie Setiadi, who will accompany the president to meet Nadella, arrived at the Palace around 8:05 a.m. In a statement before the meeting, Budi Arie said Nadella and Jokowi would discuss the potential investment of the US-based technology giant in Indonesia.
On a separate occasion, Budi Arie said that Microsoft is gearing up to invest in Indonesia with an investment value of Rp14 trillion or more.
Budi said on April 19 that the investment will be spread in various forms, including one for human resource development as digital talent.
Microsoft's investment plans for Indonesia have actually been marked by the MoU signing between the Ministry of Communication and Informatics and Microsoft in March 2024. In the MoU, Microsoft is committed to supporting human resource development in the digital sector and strengthening government infrastructure and digitalization.
Microsoft and Indonesia will also cooperate in strengthening the management of artificial intelligence and boosting the implementation and practice of personal data protection.
