TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Under-23 national team lost 2-0 to Uzbekistan in the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup semifinal match, on Monday, April 29.
Uzbekistan's Khusayin Nurchaev scored a goal in the 68th minute and Pratama Arhan scored an own goal in the 86th minute after a communication error occurred with Ernando Ari in anticipating Jasurbek Jaloliddinov's free kick.
With this result, Uzbekistan qualified for the final and secured a ticket to the 2024 Paris Olympics. Meanwhile, the Garuda Squad will still fight for a ticket through the race for third place.
First half
Uzbekistan dominated the slow match with 71 ball possession compared to Indonesia's 21 percent. Several opportunities were created, but none of them came to fruition. On the other hand, the Garuda Squad relied on fast counterattacks through Witan Sulaeman and Marselino Ferdinan.

The Red and White team then had to play with 10 players in the 84th minute after Rizky Ridho was given a red card and sent off the pitch.
Uzbekistan immediately increased their lead in the 86th minute and ended the game with 2-0 after Pratama Arhan scored an own goal.
After defeated by Uzbekistan, the Indonesian U-23 national team will fight for third place in the 2024 Asian Cup on May 2, 2024, against either Iraq or Japan. The results will determine whether Indonesia will secure a ticket to the 2024 Paris Olympics.
