TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia U-19 football team will face the Philippines in the second match of AFF U18 Youth Championship Group B today at Thuwunna Stadium, Yangon.
Indonesia manager Roni Fauzan has told his players not to take the opposition lightly, adding that he does not expect a draw, let alone a defeat.
He said that consistency is key to winning the AFF U18 Youth Championship. Indonesia U-19 earlier won their first match against the host Myanmar 2-1.
Roni is confident that the national team will emerge the victors in today’s match. “I hope the lads can score 2 to 3 goals. It’s very important because it would have an impact on the following matches,” he said.
Despite the high target, the Philippine, who were defeated 3-2 by Brunei in their opening match, cannot be written off yet. “They lost against Brunei; against us… the ball is round… the point is that don’t get caught off guard and keep fighting,” he said.
A tight schedule could prompt coach Luis Milla to rotate his U-19 squad in each game, Roni said. The rotation system was adopted for the U-22 team in SEA Games 2017 recently.
The match between Indonesia U-19 against the Philippines will be held today at 6:30 Jakarta time.
