TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – The Financial Services Authority (OJK) says that the local governments of Sulawesi, Maluku and Papua are not ready to supervise microfinance institutions as mandated by Law No.1/2013 (LKM Rule).
"They are not ready since this is a new regulation. We continue to give the local governments training and knowledge briefings," OJK chief Regional 6 (Sulampua) Bambang Kiswono said on Thursday, April 23.
While waiting for local governments' readiness, Bambang said, the central office will do the supervising.
Lisa Murtiawati, OJK chief microfinance regulation sub-section, said the financial regulator is finalizing a draft on the LKM Rule, which includes technical and implementation guidance. She said the draft is now 90 percent completed.
