Jakarta Police Deploy 5,000 Personnel to Secure Independence Day

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Police will deploy 5,000 personnel to secure Indonesia’s 72nd Independence Day (HUT RI) celebration today, August 17.
“Police officers will secure tourist attractions in Ancol, Ragunan, Kota Tua, Monas and shopping malls,” Jakarta Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Raden Prabowo Argo Yuwono told Tempo in a phone interview yesterday.

Traffic will be diverted around the State Palace to accommodate the flag-raising ceremony. “We will see the situation on the ground, there will be traffic diversion,” Argo said.
Access to the State Palace will be limited. Some roads will be closed during Indonesia’s Independence Day (HUT RI) celebrations in Jalan Merdeka Barat and Jalan Merdeka Utara.
