Indonesian Student Makes Presentation on Nuclear Energy in China

TEMPO.CO, Koba-A student from Central Bangka District, Bangka Belitung, Hesih Permawati, who is currently studying in UNSRI Palembang, was selected to present her scientific paper on nuclear in the International Youth Nuclear Congress in Hangzhou, China.
“My scientific paper made the cut and I had the opportunity to participate in the International Youth Nuclear Congress in Hangzhou, China on July 31, 2016,” Hesih said as quoted by Antara.
She explained that the conference is a routine agenda held biennially by the International Youth Nuclear Congress, hosted in different countries.
“In 2016, it was held in China. This year’s was the 9th congress held by IYNC participated by over 30 countries the world over,” she said.
Hesih said that it was an excellent opportunity to share knowledge, experience and most importantly to build networking with her seniors and professionals hailed from Japan, Germany, China, the UK, Kenya, Sri Lanka, Italy, etc.
“I couldn’t believe that I, from Indonesia, was the youngest participant in the conference. It was an excellent opportunity to meet professionals in nuclear energy,” he said.
Hesih is hopeful that Indonesia could be more open to nuclear science and drop the notion that nuclear is a negative and dangerous thing.
“Any inventions have their own advantages, it depends on how humans use them for a better life,” she said.
She said that the IYNC 2018 will be held in Argentina. Previously, the host of the IYNC were Spain (2014), the United States (2012), South Africa (2010), Switzerland (2008), Finland (2006), Canada (2004), South Korea (2002) and Slovakia (2000).
