TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A music event called Joyland Festival Jakarta 2024 officially announced the line-up for the first phase of the show. This annual festival held by Plainsong Live will be held at GBK Senayan, Jakarta on November 22-24, 2024.

The first headline act to be announced is London-based indie rock quartet, the Bombay Bicycle Club. Bombay Bicycle Club is an English indie rock band from Crouch End, London, consisting of Jack Steadman, Jamie MacColl, Suren de Saram, and Ed Nash. First coming to Indonesia in 2011, they will come with an increasingly large discography and performances full of nostalgia. Some of the classic songs they will perform are "Always Like This", "Shu e" and "Luna", in addition to material from One Big Day's latest album including "Diving" and "Meditate".
"We contacted the Bombay Bicycle Club in January 2024, and reached an agreement in a short time," said Ferry Dermawan, Program Director of Joyland Festival.
Blueboy is another performer who also comes from England. Blueboy is an indie pop band formed in 1989. Blueboy were an indie pop band formed in Reading, Berkshire, United Kingdom. After releasing three albums and a number of singles, Blueboy disbanded in 1999 and was followed by the death of Keith Girdler, one of their founders, in 2007.
At the end of 2023, Paul Stewart, who is another founding member, reactivated Blueboy and reunited with Gemma Townley, Mark Cousens and Martin Rose who had been members of the band in the '90s. On May 18, 2024, Blueboy released "One", their first single in 25 years, and on the same day they held a special show to celebrate the 30th anniversary of their first album, Unisex. Thanks to attending the event, Ferry invited Blueboy to appear at Joyland .

Japanese band MONO returns to perform in Indonesia
The instrumental rock band from Tokyo, Japan, MONO will return to perform in Indonesia by appearing at the Joyland Festival Jakarta 2024. They have visited Indonesia four times, between 2008 and 2022. MONO's appearance at the upcoming Joyland Festival Jakarta will be a witness to the feeling of love between the band and fans in Indonesia.
In addition to iconic works such as "Halcyon (Beautiful Days)" and "Ashes in the Snow", MONO will also perform songs from Oath, their 12th album which will be released in June 2024 and recorded with the legend who recently passed away, Steve Albini.
Joyland Festival Jakarta 2024 will be full of international musicians
The lineup for phase 1 of Joyland Festival Jakarta 2024 is also completed by Real Estate, a veteran indie rock band from New Jersey, United States; Automatic, a post-punk trio from Los Angeles; Brainstory, a psychedelic jazz trio from Rialto, California; John Carroll Kirby, Los Angeles pianist and producer; and Balming Tiger, a music collective from Seoul, South Korea.
The promoter will soon announce the names of other musicians, both from Indonesia and abroad. Pre-sales of Joyland Festival Jakarta 2024 tickets have entered phase 4, which provides a three-day early entry option of Rp838,000, three-day regular entry Rp938,000, and three-day VIP Rp1,208,000.
