TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The 10th World Water Forum Summit (WWF Summit) in Bali agreed on the funding for the Karian-Serpong Water Supply Project. The Summit also inked an MoU regarding the Net-Zero Water Supply Infrastructure Project in Indonesia's new capital, the Nusantara Capital City (IKN).
The memorandum of understanding was signed after the 10th High-Level Panel (HLP1) of the WWF Summit at Bali International Convention Center (BNDCC), Bali, on Tuesday, May 21, 2024.
“These are two concrete results from this forum,” said Minister of Public Works and Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono on Tuesday, confirming that more agreements will be reached over the course of the Summit.
The Karian-Serpong Water Supply Project funding agreement was signed by the Country Head of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) Euan Marshal, Principal Investment Specialist at Asia Development Bank (ADB) Yuichiro Yoi, Director General of Infrastructure Finance Department K-Exim Jae-Sun Shim, Managing Director Development Bank of Singapore Kunardy Darma Lie, and President Director of PT Karian Water Service, Kyeong Yun Jeong.
Karian-Serpong Water Supply Project has a capacity of 4,600 liters/second with an investment value of Rp2.4 trillion. It is expected to provide access to drinking water to 1.84 million people living in Jakarta and Banten, especially in Tangerang City and South Tangerang City.

Another tangible result of the WWF Summit was the MoU for the Net-Zero Water Supply Infrastructure Project at Indonesia’s new capital. The MoU was signed by the Director General of Human Settlements of the Ministry of PUPR Diana Kusumastuti and Vice President of the Korean state-owned company, K-Water, Han Seong Yong.
"These two agreements show that the Indonesian government is always trying to create innovative funding," said Basuki. He also emphasized that the Korean Government's support would accelerate the construction of other water drinking supply systems in the new capital city this year.
