Google Rebrands AIChatbot Bard as Gemini to Challenge ChatGPT

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Google has taken a major step in revamping its AI strategy by officially introducing Gemini, a unified AI platform that combines its previous Bard chatbot with Duet AI. Through the rebranding, Google directly challenged the popularity of OpenAI's ChatGPT.

Gizmochina reported that Gemini's transformation brings a series of advanced features, extending Google's AI capabilities to text, voice, and image interactions. With a dedicated app for Android users and integration into the Google app for Apple users, Gemini is set to be more accessible and user-friendly.

The main point of Gemini's new offer, the Gemini Ultra, is available through Google One's AI Premium tier. For a monthly fee of US$20 or Rp13,000, users gain access to advanced AI features in addition to the usual perks of Google One such as extra cloud storage.

By offering a richer package for the same price, Gemini sets itself as a strong competitor to ChatGPT Plus. Google aims to enhance users' AI interaction by offering a more engaging and dynamic experience, in hopes of establishing a unique space in the AI chatbot landscape.

Yet despite the upgrades, there is some skepticism concerning the ability to distinguish large language models like Gemini from others, such as ChatGPT. The real challenge for Google is how it will be able to demonstrate clear advancements and convince users of Gemini’s unique value proposition.
