TEMPO.CO, Lebak - Dozens of houses in Cikulur District, Lebak Regency, Banten were damaged due to land movement triggered by heavy rainfall in the area.
“We recorded that 13 houses and one house of prayer were affected by the ground movement,” said Abdul Rojak, head of the community unit of RW 03 Cigoong Utara, Cikulur on Monday, February 27, 2023.
According to Abdul, people are worried that their houses would collapse, especially since heavy rainfall showers the area almost every day.
In the early hours of Monday, one house was reportedly heavily damaged and three other houses were vacated. "We hope that the residents affected by the land movement can be relocated to a safer place," Abdul said.
Head of the Emergency and Logistics Section of the Lebak Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD), Agust Riza Faesal, said his side had distributed logistical assistance to the affected communities in the form of staples and other needs.
At present, he claimed, the local government is submitting a budget proposal for the relocation of residents to Regent Iti Octavia Jayabaya. "We hope the local government can help relocate people affected by land movement," Agust said.
